| My attempt to take a still version of the Harlem Shake |
Ok, so if you don't know what the Harlem Shake is by now, you must be living under a rock or something! The Harlem Shake has taken the YouTube community by storm as people are continuously uploading video's of them doing the Harlem Shake.
The first time I watched a Harlem Shake video, honestly, my reaction was something along the lines of: "What is this crap that I'm watching?". I thought it was quite boring, confusing and an indication that humans have clearly run out of ways to entertain themselves. Maybe it was because the one that I watched involved only 4 people?
As I've been noticing more people tweet about it and putting videos up of them doing it, I realized that it actually has nothing to do with the retarded concept of it at all! The Harlem Shake brings people from all countries, races, ages (yes, there is a granny Harlem Shake...) together and brings 30 seconds of joy and equality to this amazing world we live in.
Although I will probably never watch more than 10 Harlem Shake video's, I think it's quite a cute phase that YouTube is going through right now, I mean, even schools (the most boring places on earth) are getting together to do the Harlem Shake!
I love how, in this generation, we constantly need a theme dance. It's been the shuffle from LMFAO's Party Rock Anthem, the ever-so-popular Gangnam Style from Psy and now the Harlem Shake (which I think is the most bizarre of all). I wonder what will be next? We'll probably go back to moonwalking some day soon. Better start practicing...
